Springfield, Oh

Toward the end of the auction.  When it started, their was no seats available.

Yesterday's auction was ok.  We did get a number of items and they will be a nice addition to the upcoming March show.  I'll add a few photos when we get home.
Today we'll visit a couple of antique malls and then head home.  It's been cold, as low as -1 and the heat in the truck is not that good. I think today it's going up to 12 degrees, a regular heat wave.

So far we got a few things, still a long way to go.

Lafayette, In

Somewhere in Ohio
From the window of our hotel in Lafayette, IN. When we left NJ, weather report was 1-2 inches.  Looking at 5 inches now.  Not a fun ride pulling a trailer in a 2wd truck.  But we made it.  Sure hope the auction was worth the drive.

Off to Lafayette, Indiana for a auction

Heading to Indiana for a Saturday auction.  We've been to this New Year's auction before.  Hope to find a few good items.

Kimberton Sunday show report

Sunday is always a iffy day.  When the show first opened we had a sale.  But it wasn't until 4 pm(when the show closed) we had 3 more sales.
Overall a good show, and we did get invited back for the March show in 2018.  But we will be in the other building.  The other building matches are merchandise a little closer.  Plus we know a number of dealers there.

Kimberton Saturday report

For our first show it was a good Saturday.  A lot of sales and a lot of customers.  Many of the dealers have been during the show for 15 years and more.  But all the dealers were very friendly and helpful.  So today being Sunday, like many other shows, maybe a sale or not.

Kimberton show setup

The space was a little different in size but it worked out well.  Loading in wasn't bad and the setup took about 5 hours.  So Saturday's show runs between 9 and 5.  We have out fingers crossed.

A view from our hotel room.

Slatington update

We'll, we've been really busy and Slatington has taken a back seat for the last couple of months.  So the other day we spent some time there and re-did our booth.  Hope to get the sales back in line for this month.

Antiques at Kimberton

A short notice show for us.  There was a cancellation from one of the show dealers.  So a dealer who does the show and knows us suggested to the promoter that we could fill in.  So after a couple of emails and phone calls where in.  This show has been around for 40+ years, so there is a waiting list.  That means most likely this is a one-off event for us.

Kutztown Extravaganza September 2017 Saturday report

Kutztown Extravaganza September 2017 Friday report

Surprise! Surprise!  Friday turned out to be a good day for sales.  I think we're on track to have a better fall show than this past spring.  One more day to go.

Kutztown Extravaganza September 2017 Thursday report

Good strong sales today.  I was a little surprised at that.  Not as many dealers as in the past which you could see during the Wednesday setup.  But all in all, a good day.  No photos, I left the camera in the trailer at the show.

We'll, almost done.  Still have a little work left for this morning. It was really hot yesterday which slowed us down a bit. But we will be done by the show opening.

The Corn Palace

Yes, in Mitchell, SD there is the one and only "Corn Palace".  This started in the late 1800's and continues today.  Yesterday our hotel happened to be in Mitchell, SD and with that opportunity, we jumped at the chance for a visit.  OK, maybe not top on our list, but it was fun.  Just down the street was a nice Antique store were we did purchase a few items.  With that said, as soon as we get home it's time to get ready for Kutztown.

All made of corn cobs, it's about 15 x15.

Unfortunately we are going to miss the Corn Palace festival.

As you know, every festival must have their queen.

Mt. Rushmore & Crazy Horse

Yesterday the weather was perfect.  Stopped at Mt. Rushmore first.  Very impressive.  Then on to Crazy Horse.  The sheer size is amazing and thinking this was started by one man is even more amazing. But I think it will be 100's years before it's done.

That's how large this is.

Small scale.

A long trip, but one you would not want to miss

Yesterday was a long one.  Because of the weather forecast we would have to leave Kearney, NE. and head west.  So at 2am we were back on the road with only a couple of hours of sleep heading to WY.  There was a place called Jay Em, WY. 375 miles away that looked good.  It was a good choice, the weather was perfect.  We saw 2 1/2 minutes total eclipse.
Believe me, much better in person.
The corona light, only seen on a total eclipse.
This is not a sunset but 11:00 am at the start of the total eclipse.
Fellow eclipse watchers parked next to use, Richard from Denver and
Hanna from Hollywood.  Richard worked for NASA.

And yes, traffic.

At last

Jay Em, WY.  Now we wait.

Sunday, August 20, 2017

Kearney, NE

Well no more antiques for now.  Now it's eclipse time, the weather looks iffy for tomorrow so we might leave very very early to drive toward Wyoming. I'll let you know after the eclipse.

Grinnel, IA

Stopped at a Antique mall in Illinois and found a few items.
Very nice antique store.

Your never know what you may find.  We are taking this back to NJ.

Maumee OH

Stopped at the Maumee antique mall,  found nothing.  Now onto Iowa.
